Description

John Faville (b. 1847), a member of the Class of 1871 at Lawrence College in Appleton WI, is described as "catcher of the 'Congress Base-ball Club,' first base-ball club organized at Lawrence University. He attended 1866-71.

The Appleton Post, June 20, 22, 1867, reports a game of baseball being played on the college campus by the student's base ball club.

Appleton is in Eastern WI, is about 90 miles N of Milwaukee.
